Plato was the digital player walkman mascot. That's how I viewed him growing up. You couldn't go a day without seeing the cypress hill commercial when it was active(plato seemed high on weed. Amirite?). I never saw the minidisc or cd player commercials in america. My guess is that they mainly used those for the uk market. I did see online Plato minidisc ads and website banners, tho. Plato got around online, too.
Design and advertising was wild in that time.
