Sony 80 is officially funded.

Almost two weeks ago, I launched the Kickstarter campaign for my new book, Sony 80.

I’m happy to announce that the book is officially funded.

Thank you to everyone who backed it, shared it, commented, sent messages, or helped spread the word. Because of you, the book can now move forward.

The campaign is still live, and every new backer helps us make the final book even better. If we reach the extended goal, we will be able to add more pages to Sony 80 and include an exclusive print, similar to what we did with the previous ObsoleteSony books.

If you have not backed it yet, you can still choose the digital edition or hardcover edition on Kickstarter.

For anyone hearing about the project for the first time, Sony 80 is a visual history of Sony’s first 80 years, told through 80 products, formats, and turning points. This is not meant to be a simple nostalgia book. It is a visual history of how Sony kept changing the shape of technology.

Inside the book, you get restored advertising imagery, product photography, technical context, and short essays designed to be readable and visual. The goal is to make something that works both as a beautiful coffee-table book and as a serious visual reference for Sony fans, collectors, and anyone interested in consumer electronics history.

There are two main ways to back the project:

Digital Edition
For readers who want the book on their devices.

Hardcover Edition
The main physical edition, designed as a premium visual history with strong binding, quality paper, and accurate color reproduction so the images feel properly presented.

Now that the book is funded, the next goal is to make it more complete. More support means more pages, more room for restored imagery, and the chance to include an exclusive print with the campaign.
