This breakdown nails the problem nobody wanted to admit back then. The $100 memory cards were genuinely insulting especially when SD cards were dirt cheap. What really gets me is how Sony kept insisting on proprietary formats across multiple product lines like they learned nothing from MemoryStick. The device itself was solid but the artifical barriers they built around it made ownership feel punitive rather than premium. Still have mine tucked away somwhere.
